Dance workshops are available to book as part of PE lessons, towards an OFQUAL qualification, part of a history workshop or for a special event, these are delivered in partnership with Julie's Dance Tuition, who have been teaching dance in Milton Keynes for over 25 years
We offer PE lessons for a single class, a year group or for a whole school spread through a day or over multiple days.
PE lessons give children a chance to learn a variety of Ballroom, Latin American and freestyle routines, experience different rhythmical expressions and varieties of movement with a partner, solo and as part of a group.
These can be adapted to suit your school's needs and learning objectives and can finish with a display, show or even a Strictly-style competition.
Dance options are available as part of Viking, Crusader, Medieval and Tudor workshops.
- Viking: folk dances to period-style music. Music and dance were an important part of Viking community life and a way of uniting people. They were fun and inclusive and likely to be taught as a part of every child's growing up
- Medieval: basse danse or 'low dancing' was the popular style of dance that was easy to learn and simple to repeat
- Tudor: By the early 16th Century, basse danse had become the formal, courtly style of dance popular at court but the patterns remained very similar to the older medieval styles
There are many ways that we can offer dance towards a special school or year group event
Groups can work towards an examination offering a Preparatory/Primary OFQUAL grade, equivalent in work and achievement to SATs with a certificate and medal.
Alternatively, we can offer amateur medal examinations through the International Dance Teachers Association.
These courses would need to be over the course of 1-3 terms and delivered as a course of workshops, lunchtime or afterschool clubs.
Depending on your location, we can offer afterschool or lunch time dance clubs.
